Canvas of Culture
Feb 06, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
A Black History Month exhibition at Miami Children’s Museum showcases original artwork created by students in the museum’s SMART Afterschool program, offering a youth-centered perspective on Black history, culture and creativity.
Canvas of Culture presents a curated gallery that moves through key moments and themes across the decades, anchored by six immersive installations developed by student artists. The evening blends visual art with storytelling and community reflection, creating space to engage with the past while looking toward the future. A Sankofa-inspired interactive area invites visitors to reflect on ancestral connections and shared hopes, while small bites rooted in cultural traditions complement the experience.
The program also includes a special film screening highlighting children’s performing arts, underscoring the role of young voices in carrying cultural memory forward. Taking place Friday, February 6, from 6-8 p.m., the event unfolds throughout Miami Children’s Museum as a celebration of history, creativity and intergenerational expression.
