An on-campus exhibition at Miami-Dade College West Campus presents a visual exploration of Black history, culture and contemporary identity through the work of a Haitian American artist.
Celebrating Black History Month: Art Exhibit by Visual Artist Fred Thomas (Efté) features a solo presentation of paintings and non-standing sculptures by Fred Thomas, known professionally as Efté. The exhibition uses visual storytelling to reflect on heritage, memory and modern Black experience, offering a layered perspective shaped by diaspora and lived history.
The opening viewing takes place Tuesday, February 3, at 9:30 a.m., with the exhibition remaining on view throughout the month of February. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to students, faculty, staff and members of the community.
Presented as part of Miami-Dade College’s Black History Month programming commemorating the 100-year anniversary of Black History Month, the exhibition invites visitors to engage with Black art as both personal expression and cultural record.
