Chico Pinheiro & Frost Jazz Vocal Ensembles
Feb 13, 2026
Starting: 07:30 PM
Romantic melodies and Brazilian jazz grooves shape an evening designed around warmth, intimacy and shared listening on Valentine’s Day. Guitarist Chico Pinheiro joins Frost’s Jazz Vocal Ensembles for a program that blends bossa nova, Brazilian jazz and swing, pairing supple guitar lines with richly layered vocal harmonies.
Pinheiro, a two-time GRAMMY nominee praised by DownBeat as a leading voice in contemporary Brazilian jazz, is known for a sound that merges Brazilian musical traditions with jazz and classical influences. Born and raised in São Paulo, he began his career early as a studio guitarist and has since built an internationally recognized body of work as a performer, composer and arranger, with critically acclaimed recordings and wide-ranging collaborations.
Directed by Kate Reid and Maria Quintanilla, Frost Extensions, Jazz Vocal I and Jazz Vocal II explore repertoire shaped by lyricism, groove and emotional nuance, highlighting the dialogue between guitar and ensemble voices in music well suited to the occasion.
Chico Pinheiro & Frost Jazz Vocal Ensembles takes place Friday, February 13 at UM Gusman Concert Hall. The performance is part of the Frost School of Music’s Signature Events lineup for the 2025–2026 season.
