City Tour: Annual Miami City Cemetery Walking Tour
Oct 30, 2026
From: 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM
History, folklore and notable Miami figures come into focus during an evening walking tour through Miami City Cemetery. Presented Friday, October 30 by the Museum of Miami, the annual tour is led by Resident Historian Dr. Paul S. George and Coordinator of Education Programs and Community Engagement Ingrid E. Argueta.
Founded in 1897, the cemetery is the final resting place of many people connected to Miami’s early history. Stops and stories include civil rights leader Reverend Theodore Gibson, city founder Julia Tuttle, Bernard Mackey of the Ink Spots and Carrie B. Miller, whose burial site is associated with one of the cemetery’s more unusual local legends.
Guests may attend in costume or regular attire. Because the tour continues after sunset, participants should bring a flashlight and wear comfortable walking shoes. Limited parking is available inside the cemetery, with additional parking nearby.
