Collectors’ Night with Artist Jel Martinez
Jun 28, 2025
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Explore the layered aesthetics of urban decay and graffiti culture through the work of Miami-based artist Jel Martinez during an intimate evening at the Museum of Graffiti’s Private Gallery. Known for translating the act of “buffing”—the removal or covering of graffiti—into a visual language of memory and texture, Martinez creates compositions that reflect the complex relationship between public art and erasure.
Collectors’ Night with Artist Jel Martinez takes place Saturday, June 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the artist, view new and past works, and learn more about his creative process. Martinez, who began writing graffiti in the 1980s, draws from the layered surfaces of city walls to create works using acrylic, enamel, oil and ink. His paintings highlight the tension between expression and censorship, often revealing glimpses of previous marks beneath new layers.
Light refreshments will be served. The event is hosted in the Museum’s Private Gallery and offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at the artist’s evolving body of work.
