Crafting Natural Paintbrushes: A Family Garden Workshop
Jan 04, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM
A hands-on family workshop invites children to explore creativity through natural materials, movement and sensory play in a garden-market setting. Designed for ages 5 to 12, the program encourages young participants to engage with the environment by crafting paintbrushes from leaves, twigs and other found materials, then using them to paint in response to the sounds of nature.
Led by multidisciplinary artist Gabriela Serra, the workshop blends art-making with ecological awareness and embodied exploration. Serra, who works across filmmaking, photography and community-based facilitation, brings a practice rooted in relationships between people, land and ancestral knowledge. Her approach emphasizes intergenerational learning and playful connection to the natural world.
Crafting Natural Paintbrushes: A Family Garden Workshop takes place Sunday, January 4 at the Vizcaya Village Garage, as part of Vizcaya’s Family Garden Programs at the Vizcaya Village Farmers Market. The program is free with RSVP, registration is required and children must be accompanied by a caregiver.
