Cumbiamba
Nov 28, 2025
Starting: 8:00 PM
A new Miami ensemble rooted in Cumbia’s cross-cultural rhythms brings a guitar-forward, psychedelic take on the genre to the Gramps patio.
Cubiamba appears on Friday, November 28 with a set that blends vintage Peruvian, Colombian and Mexican Cumbia, shaped by the nine-piece band’s interest in Chicha—the psychedelic Peruvian sound defined by surf-tinged guitar lines, Andean rhythms and electric textures. Formed earlier this year, the group includes three guitarists alongside bass, drums, percussion, vocals, flute and keyboards, creating a full, layered sound that has quickly earned attention for its energy and warmth.
Their debut this summer featured original songs, reimagined covers and arrangements that drew from regional Cumbia traditions as well as the band’s own experiences within Miami’s diasporic community. That performance signaled a growing appetite for live Cumbia in the city, with the group tapping into a style that feels both contemporary and connected to deep musical roots.
The show begins at 8 p.m. at Gramps in Wynwood.
