Curator Talks: Amber Esseiva
Mar 25, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A visiting curator shares insights into contemporary art practice and exhibition-making at an artist-run space in Miami.
Curator Talks: Amber Esseiva takes place Wednesday, March 25 at Locust Projects. Part of the organization’s ongoing Curator Talks series, the program invites leading curators to discuss their work, influences and approaches to supporting artists across institutional and independent contexts.
Amber Esseiva, a Swiss-Senegalese-American curator and educator, currently serves as Senior Curator and Director of Curatorial Affairs at the Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University and as Curator-at-Large for The Studio Museum in Harlem. Her work centers on contemporary art by emerging and mid-career artists, with a focus on expanding narratives around race, identity and representation.
The series also emphasizes engagement with Miami’s local arts community, with visiting curators participating in studio visits and exchanges with area artists. Presented as part of Locust Projects’ spring programming, the event is free and open to the public.
