Debris and Leather with Florida’s River of Grass
Jul 27, 2025
From: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Engage with South Florida’s landscape and cultural heritage through a hands-on printmaking experience led by local artists at Pérez Art Museum Miami.
Local Views at the Art Station: Debris and Leather with Florida’s River of Grass takes place Sunday, July 27 and invites participants to explore themes of sustainability, survival and place. Artists Elle Barbeito and Noah Cribb guide guests in creating collagraph snakeskin prints using materials collected from the Everglades, while sharing insight into their practices rooted in environmental reflection and personal ritual.
Barbeito, a Miami-born artist and designer, incorporates hunting, skinning and hide preservation into sculptural leatherwork and handcrafted furniture that explores how we live with and through the natural world. Cribb, a multidisciplinary artist and graduate of New World School of the Arts, blends abstraction, breath and daily ritual in his work, drawing from spiritual concepts of duality and transformation.
Also on view are Barbeito’s furniture pieces, such as collapsible hunting seats and front-porch-style rocking chairs, that reflect South Florida’s material culture and the intersection of function, memory and identity. This annual event is part of PAMM’s Local Views series, which highlights Miami-based artists through public engagement and creative exploration.
