Dining in the Dark

A multisensory dining experience unfolds inside one of Ocean Drive’s landmark Art Deco hotels.

Dining in the Dark takes place Sunday, March 1 at the Avalon Hotel on Miami Beach, presented by Power Access as part of the South Beach Jazz Festival. Guests are guided through a shared meal in complete darkness, heightening the senses of taste, smell, touch and sound while offering insight into the lived experience of visual impairment.

The evening is accompanied by live music from cellist Kevin Jones, whose performance provides an immersive sonic backdrop throughout the dinner.

Designed in 1941 by noted Art Deco architect Albert Anis, the Avalon Hotel stands among Miami Beach’s most celebrated historic properties. Its preserved façade and storied past add architectural context to an experience centered on perception and awareness.
