A remorseless seducer faces the consequences of a life built on deception, violence and unchecked desire in Mozart’s darkly comic opera. Florida Grand Opera presents Don Giovanni on Saturday, January 30, Sunday, January 31 and Tuesday, February 2 at the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of its 2026-2027 season. Mozart’s score shifts between comedy, psychological drama and supernatural terror as its defiant central figure moves toward a final reckoning.
After killing the father of one of his intended conquests, Don Giovanni continues pursuing women while dismissing the grief and anger left in his wake. His servant Leporello records his many affairs and urges him to change, but Giovanni refuses to accept responsibility even as former lovers, rivals and grieving relatives close in around him. When the statue of the murdered man appears and offers one last opportunity to repent, Giovanni’s refusal seals his fate.
Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart with a libretto by Lorenzo da Ponte, the opera will be sung in Italian with projected English and Spanish translations.
