Apr 22, 2026
Starting: 6:00 PM
A documentary screening and panel discussion explore the science and urgency of coral reef conservation in recognition of Earth Day. Taking place Wednesday, April 22 at Coral Gables Art Cinema, the event centers on With & Without: A Coral Story, a film examining the future of coral ecosystems and the challenges they face. The evening includes a post-screening conversation with director Derick Walker, offering additional insight into the film’s themes and research.
The documentary presents perspectives from leading scientists studying Stony Coral Tissue Loss Disease, a condition impacting reef systems since its identification in 2014. Through a combination of scientific analysis and environmental storytelling, the film addresses the broader effects of human activity on ocean health and outlines ongoing efforts to better understand and mitigate threats to coral reefs.
Presented in collaboration with Keep Coral Gables Beautiful, Green U and the Coral Gables Art Cinema, the program also includes opportunities for attendees to learn about local sustainability initiatives prior to the screening. Doors open ahead of the event, with informational outreach beginning earlier in the evening.
