El Gran Circo Maravillas: Cierra Por Fin Sus Puertas
Through Feb 22, 2026
weekly on Sunday, Friday, Saturday
Starting: 8:30 PM | Doors Open: 8:15 PM
A poetic theatrical fable set inside a crumbling circus tent examines the tension between artistic resistance and power, using spectacle, humor and danger as its language.
El Gran Circo Maravillas: Cierra Por Fin Sus Puertas, by acclaimed Cuban author Abilio Estévez, inaugurates Teatro Miami with a story centered on twelve performers who continue to act as the definitive closure of their circus is announced, and defiantly denied. Beneath the deteriorating carpa, comedy and lyricism coexist with risk, forming a deeply human meditation on endurance and creative defiance.
The work unfolds as a powerful metaphor for a Cuba that suffers, tracing the emotional debris of broken dreams across generations and reflecting on art’s capacity to persist even as structures collapse. Estévez’s writing balances political undercurrents with intimate storytelling, offering a fierce yet tender reflection on freedom as both a mission and an unresolved destination.
Following a successful debut, the production returns to celebrate the opening of Teatro Miami, a new cultural venue positioned to become a vital force in the city’s artistic landscape. The play runs over three weekends—February 6-8, February 13-15 and February 20-22—with performances on Fridays and Saturdays at 8:30 p.m. and Sundays at 5 p.m.
During opening weekend, audiences are invited to a special conversation with Abilio Estévez, followed by a post-performance musical gathering.
Presented in Spanish, the production is suitable for all ages. Valet parking is available, along with food, wine, beer and beverages for purchase. Ticket sales are final, with no exchanges or refunds.
