Fangoria Studios & WEG Films: Gateway Horror Shorts
Oct 30, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Two Miami-shot horror shorts bring practical effects, young protagonists and tropical settings to the outdoor screen at SoundScape Park in Miami Beach. Presented Friday, October 30 by FANGORIA Studios and WEG Films with support from the City of Miami Beach, the free community screening offers an advance look at SQWUID and GEEKS before the films enter the festival circuit.
SQWUID follows three Miami children who discover a mysterious sea creature and try to return it home, only to learn that their new companion is not what it seems. GEEKS centers on a young girl and her famous “Fish Girl” sister, who grow up as attractions in their family’s circus before deciding to leave.
Both PG-13 films are part of FANGORIA Studios’ Class of 2026 Horror Shorts Program, an initiative produced on location in Miami Beach with emerging filmmakers, South Florida artists and an emphasis on practical visual effects. The program uses the city’s tropical landscape as an alternative to more conventional horror settings.
The screening takes place outdoors at SoundScape Park, adjacent to the New World Center. Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets. Admission is free and open to the public.
