Dorothy’s trip through Oz gets a playful family-theater update at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Fantasy Theatre Factory presents The Wonderful Wizard of Oz on Sunday, July 12, with a free afternoon performance designed for children and family audiences. The production reimagines the classic story with puppets, comedy and contemporary twists while keeping its focus on friendship, courage and finding home.
In this version, Dorothy and her cat Todo are swept from Kansas into a colorful Land of Oz, where they encounter a brain-seeking Scarecrow, a Wi-Fi-powered Tin Man, a Cowardly Lion, puppet Munchkins, a Wicked Witch with a YouTube channel and a Wizard whose identity may not be what it seems.
Founded in 1978, Fantasy Theatre Factory is a nonprofit theater company known for professional theater for young audiences, touring productions and cultural arts programming. The free performance is presented with support from the Miami Beach Arts and Culture Council and the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs.
