Folklore & Foliage
Oct 23, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM
Dark art, Florida ghost lore, shadow puppetry and archival Halloween footage turn the Miami Beach Botanical Garden into an after-hours gathering devoted to the strange, historical and otherworldly. Folklore & Foliage takes place Friday, October 23, bringing together artists, writers, performers and specialty vendors for a free evening inspired by oddities, folklore and the garden after dark.
Books & Books presents author Thomas Smith, who will share stories from The Ghosts of the Florida Atlantic Coast, while Bruno Esposito of Lone Wolf One Man Band provides live music. Artist Christina Pettersson contributes a site-specific shadow puppet performance, and vintage footage of Halloween celebrations and reportedly haunted South Florida locations will screen throughout the evening courtesy of Miami Dade College’s Lynn and Louis Wolfson II Florida Moving Image Archives.
The program also includes dark art and oddities vendors, astrology and tarot readings by Aída The Energy Witch, personalized typewritten poetry by The Biscayne Poet and a seasonal cocktail from the garden’s Boo-tanical Bar. Admission is free.
