From Nothing to Outline
Aug 23, 2025
From: 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM
Downtown Media Center offers a hands-on workshop for filmmakers looking to use improvisation as a creative tool for developing authentic characters and story outlines. Participants will work with actors to create unscripted scenes that serve as the foundation for a new film project, exploring how improvised performance can make dialogue and narrative feel more alive on screen.
From Nothing to Outline: A Filmmaker’s Improv Lab with David Christopher takes place Saturday, August 23. Christopher, a performer, instructor, director and producer with over 30 years of improv experience, is a founding member of Miami’s Just The Funny and executive producer of the Miami Improv Festival. He has taught and performed at leading theaters and festivals nationwide, blending emotionally driven character work with techniques that challenge artists to expand their storytelling approach. Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided.
