Learn to repair, refresh and personalize your wardrobe with simple techniques rooted in both tradition and sustainability. This hands-on workshop at the Coral Gables Museum introduces the basics of hand sewing, including Sashiko—an ancient Japanese stitching method—as well as five practical mending techniques for seams, hems, holes and garment alterations.
Hand-Sewing Basics with Taryn Hipwell takes place Saturday, August 23 at the Coral Gables Museum. Basic materials will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own garments for mending. The session is led by sustainable fashion expert Taryn Hipwell, founder of Beyond the Label and an award-winning educator in upcycling and circular design.
