A holiday concert rooted in Venezuelan musical tradition brings seasonal warmth to the Ancient Spanish Monastery with a performance by cuatro virtuoso Henry Linarez.
Henry Linarez: Un Cuatrico en Navidad takes place Wednesday, December 17 and marks the fourth consecutive year the artist has presented this Christmas program in South Florida. Set within the monastery’s historic surroundings, the evening offers a family-friendly celebration centered on music that evokes memory, heritage and shared tradition.
Linarez is known for his expressive mastery of the cuatro, the small, four-stringed instrument central to Venezuelan folk music. His holiday repertoire draws from traditional Christmas melodies and regional sounds, reinterpreted through virtuosic technique and a deep connection to Latin American musical roots.
Born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Linarez began his musical training at an early age and went on to study guitar, piano, harmony and composition. His career has taken him across Venezuela and internationally, with performances throughout the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and Europe. He has shared the stage with influential artists including Simón Díaz, Aldemaro Romero, Aquiles Machado, Arturo Sandoval and others, and has released multiple recordings dedicated to Venezuelan folk and Christmas music.
Blending festive spirit with cultural tradition, Un Cuatrico en Navidad offers an intimate seasonal experience framed by one of South Florida’s most distinctive historic venues.
