Heroes, Villains, and Violence
Through Dec 31, 2025
From: 11:00 AM to 7:45 PM
A pair of London-based artists known for blurring the boundaries between street influence, pop iconography and personal mythology bring a charged, immersive exhibition to The Art of Hip Hop during Miami Art Week. Working at a monumental scale, Slawn and Opake build a shared visual world where satire, memory and self-portraiture collide, drawing on their parallel histories with violence, addiction and the long work of remaking one’s own narrative.
Heroes, Villains, and Violence, presented at The Art of Hip Hop in Wynwood, gathers new collaborative pieces that mix cartoon figures, celebrity archetypes and boxing imagery across large painted wood panels. The result is a landscape that feels both chaotic and meticulously composed—a reflection of two artists negotiating public persona, family responsibility and the pull of reinvention. The exhibition also marks a notable shift for the venue, which has typically focused on the historical foundations of hip-hop visual culture; here, the lens moves toward contemporary practice and the future of the form.
Visitors will find the exhibition housed within the venue’s main galleries, with additional elements extending onto the shared outdoor patio, where a curated Zig-Zag lounge will host DJ sets, live art and brand activations throughout the month. A limited-edition pop-up shop featuring exclusive collectibles from the artists accompanies the show, complementing the work inside the galleries.
The exhibition opens December 3 at 11 a.m. and runs through December 31. A campus-wide ticket grants access to The Art of Hip Hop, Museum of Graffiti and the Private Gallery, with the duo’s limited-edition drop scheduled for 1 p.m. on opening day.
