Human Figure Drawing
Jul 19, 2025
From: 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Develop essential skills for drawing the human form in a four-week figure drawing course guided by artist and educator Raul Perdomo at Oolite Arts on Miami Beach.
Students develop fundamental drawing skills through structured exercises in gesture and methodical studies, using the human figure as a primary subject to explore line, value, shape and composition.
The four-week course alternates between spontaneous gesture drawings and detailed longer studies, providing hands-on experience with various drawing media including charcoal and graphite. Each session includes instructor demonstrations, individual guidance, and group critiques designed to build perceptual skills and encourage personal interpretive approaches. A nude model will be present for all drawing sessions.
Instructor Raul Perdomo brings extensive experience as both an exhibiting artist and educator to the program. Born in New Orleans and raised in the Dominican Republic, he holds a BFA in painting and drawing from Florida State University and has been working in Miami's art scene since 1990. Perdomo served as a resident artist at South Florida Art Center (now Oolite Arts) from 1990-1993 and has taught advanced painting, drawing and portfolio development workshops since 2008.
Human Figure Drawing meets Saturdays from July 19-August 9, at Oolite Arts on Miami Beach. The course costs $195 with model fees included, though materials are not provided. Open to ages 15 and up with written parental permission for teens. Classes are conducted in both English and Spanish.
