Jazz Encounters: Trio De Janeiro
Mar 13, 2026
Doors Open: 7:00 PM | Show Starts: 8:00 PM
Brazilian jazz, samba and bossa nova rhythms fill the WDNA Jazz Gallery during a live performance by Trio de Janeiro. Jazz Encounters: Trio De Janeiro takes place Friday, March 13, as part of WDNA’s ongoing Jazz Encounters series highlighting regional and international jazz artists.
The trio features vocalist Rose Max, seven-string guitarist Ramatis Moraes and percussionist Brian Potts. Their performances blend the improvisational spirit of jazz with traditional Brazilian grooves, drawing from Rio de Janeiro’s rich musical traditions. Max, who began her career performing in Rio’s nightclub scene, has received multiple Brazilian International Press Awards and has been recognized by Miami New Times “Best of Miami.” Moraes is a songwriter, producer and arranger who has performed with Brazilian artists including Roberto Menescal and Tim Maia, while Potts, a percussionist and educator, serves as artistic director of the Miami-based samba group Miamibloco.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for a pre-show reception catered by The Fish House, with the concert beginning at 8 p.m. A limited number of complimentary tickets are available for students, who are also invited to participate in a post-show jam session.
