Jazz in the Jungle: Munir Hossn & GypsySamba + DJ Kumi

An outdoor jazz concert unfolds under the palms, pairing global rhythms and improvisational flair in a setting that invites Miami’s winter evenings to slow down and sway.

Jazz in the Jungle with Munir Hossn & GypsySamba + DJ Kumi takes place on Friday, December 19 at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Presented by Miami Jazz Booking and Boa Sorte, this installment of the Jazz in the Jungle series highlights Munir Hossn, a Brazilian composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer whose work blends Afro-Brazilian rhythms, jazz, funk and world-music textures into a cohesive, border-defying sound. Raised in Bahia and now based in Miami, Hossn has collaborated with international artists and draws on his mixed cultural heritage to craft music that resonates across grooves and traditions.

For this performance, Hossn teams with GypsySamba, an ensemble that channels Brazilian rhythmic traditions through jazz-inflected arrangements, creating a soundscape where samba, jazz and contemporary improvisation intersect with effortless fluidity. The evening also features selections from DJ Kumi, weaving sets that bridge acoustic performance and danceable grooves in the open-air garden setting. 

Food and drinks will be available for purchase, including offerings from Tequila Town and Stanzioni, serving Neapolitan-style pizza. The Botanical Garden’s lush tropical backdrop, paired with seasonal music, offers an atmospheric venue for this culturally rich, rhythmic celebration.
