Jul 16, 2025 - Jul 19, 2025
Select Days
Wed: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM | Sat: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Get hands-on with coastal science in a sensory-aware setting designed to support all types of learners. This special session of the Just for Me program invites individuals and families with sensory processing or accessibility needs to explore the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science during quieter hours, with modified environments that foster comfort and engagement.
Just for Me: Coastal Explorers will be held on Wednesday, July 16 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 19 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. During these sessions, lighting and sound levels throughout the museum will be adjusted to create a more accessible experience. Guests can also participate in a tactile activity that involves constructing a coastal environment using sand and other sensory-friendly materials. As part of the experience, participants will explore the challenges facing coastal ecosystems and learn how natural and human forces shape shoreline resilience.
A Social Narrative guide is available to help visitors prepare for their visit, and families are encouraged to share resources and make community connections while on site. The event is structured to allow for exploration at each guest’s preferred pace and comfort level.
