Celebrate the enduring legacy of one of jazz’s most iconic figures with a centennial tribute to Miles Davis featuring world-class musicians and a full orchestral ensemble.
Kind of Blue: Celebrating the Music of Miles Davis takes place on Friday, November 7 in the Knight Concert Hall at the Adrienne Arsht Center, presented as part of the Center’s Jazz Roots series. The program highlights Davis’s groundbreaking contributions to modern jazz through selections from landmark albums including Kind of Blue, Sketches of Spain, Tutu and Birth of the Cool.
The performance features trumpeter Ambrose Akinmusire and saxophonist Ravi Coltrane—both acclaimed artists in their own right—evoking the legendary collaboration between Davis and John Coltrane. Joining them is powerhouse vocalist Veronica Swift, with musical direction by pianist Shelly Berg and orchestral accompaniment by the Frost School of Music’s Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra, conducted by Scott Flavin.
