La Mar Nights at JARANA

Chef Diego Oka revisits dishes from La Mar’s former Miami restaurant during a four-night tasting series at JARANA in Aventura. Held on Saturdays from September 19 through October 10 during Hispanic Heritage Month, La Mar Nights brings Oka back to the menu he led for 11 years at La Mar’s Brickell Key location while the restaurant prepares for a future return to Miami.

The reservation-only experience features a three-course menu served in a dedicated area of JARANA. Dishes include beet causa with king crab, hamachi tiradito, trout cebiche, Oka’s grilled scallops with aged Parmesan, seafood bucatini in chupe sauce and whole crispy yellowtail snapper with Nikkei sauce and chaufa rice. Complimentary chips with ají amarillo sauce and a daily amuse-bouche begin the meal.

Oka’s history with La Mar spans more than two decades, beginning with the original Lima restaurant before he went on to work with the concept internationally and open its Miami location in 2014. JARANA, also part of Gastón Acurio’s restaurant group, provides the setting for the limited-run series and its focus on contemporary Peruvian cuisine.
