Las Delicadas Lágrimas de la Luna Menguante
Sep 04, 2025 - Sep 06, 2025
Starting: 8:30 PM
A journalist’s fractured memory becomes the key to justice in this drama exploring human rights, trauma and resilience.
Las Delicadas Lágrimas de la Luna Menguante (The Delicate Tears of the Waning Moon) will be performed September 4–6 at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center as part of Teatro Avante's 39th International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami. This Spanish-language production is written by Rebeca Alemán and directed by Iraida Tapias for Water People Theatre, based in Chicago and Venezuela.
Inspired by true events, the play follows Paulina, a journalist and advocate for victims of femicide and Indigenous communities, as she recovers from a brutal attack that left her in a coma. As she struggles to reclaim her memory, visions of her mother, daughter and closest friend guide her toward the truth. What unfolds is a poignant meditation on remembrance, resistance and the fight for justice.
An opening reception will take place on September 4 at 7:00 p.m., followed by the performance at 8:30 p.m.
