Two brothers’ competing visions of identity and the American Dream drive a Miami-rooted story of family, belonging and survival. littleboy/littleman runs May 14 through June 13 at GableStage’s Wolfson Family Theatre at The Biltmore in Coral Gables, closing the company’s 2026-2027 season.
Written by Rudi Goblen and directed by Teo Castellanos, the regional premiere follows two Nicaraguan-born brothers whose bond is tested by different ideas of escape, protection, assimilation and dignity. The work blends poetry, live music and ritual, breaking through the fourth wall as memory, rhythm and performance shape the brothers’ inner lives.
Goblen’s play brings a homegrown Miami perspective to questions of immigration, brotherhood and the pressures of building a life in America. Castellanos, a Miami-based theater artist known for movement-driven and culturally rooted work, directs the production as the final entry in GableStage’s 28th season of regional and Florida premieres.
Performances are scheduled Wednesdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with matinees on Wednesdays, Sundays and the final Saturday at 2 p.m.
