Mainly Mozart Fest: The Soul of the Danube
May 24, 2025
From: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Travel through the musical landscapes of Central Europe with an afternoon of chamber works shaped by the rich cultural currents of the Danube. This concert features an ensemble of acclaimed performers—Yulia Ziskel (violin), Dov Scheindlin (viola), Dmitry Kouzov (cello) and Marina Radiushina (piano)—bringing together musicians from the New York Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera Orchestra for a program that highlights both the elegance and folk-rooted expressiveness of the region’s composers.
The Soul of the Danube, taking place Saturday, May 24 at the Knight Center for Music Innovation, located in the University of Miami campus, is part of the 2025 Mainly Mozart Festival: Echoes in Motion. The program opens with Mozart’s lyrical Piano Trio in G Major, followed by selections from Ernő Dohnányi’s Serenade in C Major, which captures Hungarian character in a classical form. Two short works by Brahms—a meditative Intermezzo and the vibrant Hungarian Dance No. 6—draw direct inspiration from folk idioms. The concert concludes with Dvořák’s Piano Quartet in E-flat Major, a work celebrated for its melodic warmth and Bohemian color.
Now in its 32nd season, the Mainly Mozart Festival continues to offer audiences a wide-ranging exploration of classical repertoire across select dates from May 17 to June 6, 2025. This performance is presented by the Miami Chamber Music Society.
