Mantra & Melody: The Devotional Art of Syamarani Dasi

Sacred art meets song at Miami Dade College’s Padrón Campus in an evening of devotional paintings, live kirtan and quiet contemplation. The artist, Syamarani Dasi, has spent nearly sixty years creating more than three hundred works, many of them reproduced in books that have reached hundreds of millions of readers in over eighty languages. A pioneering teacher in the bhakti-yoga tradition and founder of Sacred Vedic Arts in Miami, she paints luminous visions of Vrindavan, the mythic realm of divine love.

Guests can meet the artist, hear the stories behind her paintings and explore their symbolism during a guided viewing of her exhibit Mantra & Melody: The Devotional Art of Syamarani Dasi on Thursday, September 4. The program also features call-and-response mantra music led by Miami’s bhakti-yoga musicians, along with opportunities to mingle with members of the city’s yoga, spiritual, and arts communities. Admission is free.
