Miami Dance Futures: A Life in Dance takes place Friday, February 13 at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Presented by Dance NOW! in collaboration with Miami Dance Futures and Miami-Dade Public Schools’ Cultural Passport Performances, the annual concert honors Lewis as one of Miami’s most revered dance figures and an international luminary.
Known for his expressive, Limón-based modern dance style, Dr. Lewis presents a program designed especially for young audiences across Miami-Dade County. The performance features original choreography by Matthew Diamond, Diego Salterini and Hannah Baumgarten, reflecting both tradition and innovation within contemporary dance.
Founded in 2000 by Artistic Directors Hannah Baumgarten and Diego Salterini, Dance NOW! Miami has become a leading force in South Florida’s dance community. The company, recognized as “Best Dance Company” by the Miami New Times, is known for its original works, educational outreach and collaborations with national and international artists. Through residencies, youth programs and community performances, Dance NOW! has reached more than 60,000 children across the region.
