Miami Nocturne ft. The Purple Project
Jan 08, 2026
Starting: 9:00 PM
A late-night live music set reinterprets Prince’s catalog through jazz, Afro-Cuban and funk-inflected arrangements in an intimate club setting.
Miami Nocturne ft. The Purple Project takes place on Thursday, January 8 at The Pool Hall at Red Rooster Overtown. Led by Latin Grammy–nominated pianist Martin Bejerano, The Purple Project explores Prince’s music through improvisation and stylistic reinvention, reflecting the artist’s own practice of reshaping his songs in live performance.
The ensemble features vocalist Nicole Yarling alongside drummer Lucas Apostoleris and bassist Kurt Hengstebeck. Together, they rework well-known songs such as “Purple Rain,” “When Doves Cry” and “Kiss,” drawing on jazz harmony, Afro-Cuban rhythm, gospel and jazz-fusion elements. The performance is part of the Miami Nocturne series, which highlights contemporary jazz and experimental interpretations in a nightlife context.
