MOAD MAKES: Noche de Poesía with Legna Rodríguez Iglesias
Oct 07, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Cuban poet and writer Legna Rodríguez Iglesias leads a Spanish-language creative writing workshop that uses visual art as a starting point for poetry. Presented Wednesday, October 7 at the Museum of Art and Design at MDC’s Freedom Tower, the session draws inspiration from the exhibition Abstraction as Legacy and explores connections among language, memory, imagination and close observation.
Through guided prompts, participants will respond to works in the exhibition and develop those impressions into poems. Rodríguez Iglesias is a recipient of the Casa de las Américas Prize, Paz Prize for Poetry and Franz Kafka Prize for Essay/Testimony, with a body of work spanning poetry, fiction, theater, essays and chronicles.
The workshop is free and open to the public, with light refreshments served. Complimentary parking is available for attendees in the MDC garage at 500 NE Second Avenue.
