MOAD Music Featuring Clave Y Cuba and Carne Viva
Nov 15, 2026
From: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Afro-Cuban rumba, participatory storytelling and original choreography come together in an afternoon program at Freedom Tower’s Knight Skylight Gallery. Presented by the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College, the event features Clave Y Cuba and Carne Viva Dance Theatre on Sunday, November 15.
The program opens with “Cantemos Juntos,” an interactive storytelling session and rumba sing-along led by Clave Y Cuba founder Ivan “Shie” Moreno. Open to all ages, the introduction to Cuban folkloric music leads into a live performance by the ensemble’s musicians and singers, alongside collaborative movement and original choreography by Carne Viva Dance Theatre.
Havana-born Moreno founded Clave Y Cuba to preserve and share ancestral musical traditions through performances, workshops and community gatherings. Carne Viva founder Chachi Perez studied at Miami Dade College and the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, with training spanning modern dance, improvisation, ballet, jazz and Afro-Cuban forms.
Admission is free and open to the public, with registration available online. Light refreshments will be served. Attendees may park free in MDC Lot 1, south of Freedom Tower between NE Fifth and NE Sixth Streets.
