MOCA Makers: Food as Archive
Jan 10, 2026
Starting: 1:00 PM
A hands-on workshop at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, explores how food can function as a living record of memory, culture, and community as part of MOCA’s ongoing Makers series.
MOCA Makers: Food as Archive unfolds on Saturday, January 10, inviting participants to consider how stories, traditions and histories are preserved through everyday practices. This installment is part of Archives as Practice, a seasonal reimagining of the museum’s monthly workshops that examines archival methods beyond institutional frameworks.
Curated in collaboration with Nadege Green, founder of Black Miami-Dade, the workshop approaches memory work as something embodied and communal. Centering food as a vessel of remembrance, the session considers the conch as both material and metaphor, highlighting how cultural knowledge is carried, shared, and sustained across generations.
MOCA Makers is designed for participants of all experience levels, offering an accessible space to engage with contemporary ideas through creative exploration.
