MOCA Makers: Poke & Pattern

Symbols, repetition, and line become tools for storytelling in a hands-on workshop that explores tattooing as an artistic language.

MOCA Makers: Poke & Pattern takes place Saturday, September 13 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami. Led by Julie Frances of Easy Peasy Tattoo, the session introduces participants to the art of stick poke tattooing using non-permanent tools and synthetic skin. Inspired by Philip Smith’s encaustic works on view, the workshop highlights connections between layered visual narratives in painting and the symbolic possibilities of body-based mark-making.

Open to ages 18 and older, no prior experience is required and all materials are provided.
