Jon Batiste & Trombone Shorty Host The New Orleans Jam
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
Count on two New Orleans natives – master musician, songwriter and composer Jon Batiste and renowned trombonist Trombone Shorty – to bring the sounds of New Orleans jazz, and any other music genre they desire, to the New Orleans Jam session. Grammy-nominated Trombone Shorty, known for his command of brass instruments, will be accompanied by his ensemble Orleans Avenue to perform their unique style of funk, jazz, rock and pop.
Saturday, February 28
Nile Rodgers & Chic
Guitarist and Songwriters Hall of Famer Nile Rodgers will take the main stage with his chart-topping ‘70s disco band, Chic. Rodgers and Chic, which he cofounded, are sure to play some of their chart-topping hits, including “Everybody Dance,” “I Want Your Love” and “Le Freak” and turn The Hangar into a sing- and dance-along hot spot.
Toto
The multi-Grammy Award-winning band Toto will perform their brand of rock that blends musical genres such as pop, R&B and blues. Also know for their hot tracks from the 1970s and ‘80s, Toto promises to excite the crowd with favorite golden oldies like “Hold the Line,” “Rosanna” and their No. 1 hit, “Africa.”
Adi Oasis
Singer Adi Oasis was born after Chic and Toto had made musical history, but she’ll share the bill with these musical legends to bring in some French Caribbean funk. Oasis will play her signature bass guitar and entertain the audience with a compilation of soul, funk and R&B.
Sunday, March 1
Bomba Estéreo
Make way for Latin American music on the final day of the festival. Bomba Estéreo is a Colombian band, led by singer-composer Li Saumet, that plays a distinctive blend of Caribbean and electronic music. The group will bring the culture of the Caribbean to the stage with musical storytelling and novel sounds and textures.
Pedrito Martinez
Percussionist and band leader Pedrito Martinez is sure to electrify the audience with his folklorish style and celebrated brand of Afro-Cuban music. Martinez, a batá drum master, hails from Cuba and has played with some of the biggest names in music. Famous for jamming with many Cuban rumba groups, Martinez has also founded and led bands, including Grammy-nominated The Pedrito Martinez Group.
