Paul O'Dette Lute Concert

Renaissance and Baroque repertoire comes into focus in a solo lute recital by Paul O’Dette at FIU’s Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Held Wednesday, November 4, the concert highlights the expressive range and intricate textures of an instrument central to early European music.

O’Dette is widely regarded for his work in historically informed performance, with a career spanning international festivals, recordings and collaborations devoted to Renaissance and Baroque music. His playing combines scholarly attention to period style with a concert approach centered on phrasing, ornamentation and the lute’s intimate sound.

The performance offers a rare opportunity to hear solo lute repertoire in the close acoustical setting of The Wertheim.
