Plastic is Scary: Beach Cleanup, Eco Walk & Halloween Costume Swap
Oct 10, 2026
From: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
A beach cleanup, eco walk and costume swap bring a sustainability-focused spin to Halloween at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. Held Saturday, October 10, Plastic is Scary combines hands-on environmental service with activities centered on reducing waste and learning more about the island’s coastal ecosystem.
Participants can help remove litter from the shoreline, exchange gently used Halloween costumes and accessories and join a guided walk with MORAES exploring local wildlife, native and invasive plants, coastal habitats and seasonal sea turtle activity. Volunteer service hours will be available for the cleanup.
Presented by Debris Free Oceans, MORAES and Earth Breeze, the free all-ages event is part of Florida Climate Week 2026. Advance registration is required.
