Sogetsu Ikebana Class
Oct 25, 2026
From: 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM
Sensei Stephan Eberhagen leads a hands-on introduction to Sogetsu Ikebana, guiding participants through the principles of Japanese floral arrangement at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Held Sunday, October 25, the beginner-level class combines technical instruction with creative practice and discussion of the art form’s emphasis on the relationship between nature and human expression.
Participants will learn the basic upright moribana style before creating their own arrangements under Eberhagen’s guidance. The session also includes time to review the finished works and discuss composition, technique and the expressive qualities of Ikebana.
Eberhagen has studied Ikebana for more than 15 years and holds the rank of Jonin Sanyo instructor in the Sogetsu School. His work has been presented through exhibitions, workshops and installations in the United States and Japan, including at Sogetsu Kaikan in Tokyo. Participants may bring their own suiban, kenzan and Ikebana scissors or borrow or purchase a kit from the instructor.
