Sounds of Little Haiti
Through Nov 21, 2026
monthly on the 3rd Saturday
From: 6:00 PM to midnight
A lineup of Konpa bands brings live Haitian music to the Little Haiti Cultural Complex as part of a monthly outdoor concert series. Taking place Friday, May 15, the Sounds of Little Haiti installment coincides with Haitian Heritage Month and features performances by Tabou Combo, Skah Shah #1 and Vakam.
The program highlights multiple generations of Konpa, a genre rooted in Haitian dance music known for its steady rhythms and brass-driven arrangements. Tabou Combo, formed in 1968, is widely recognized as one of Haiti’s most influential bands, while Skah Shah #1 and Vakam contribute both classic and contemporary interpretations of the style.
Presented by Purforce Group and the Route 1804 Foundation, the series brings together music, food and community in an open-air setting. The May edition offers an extended evening of performances, with space for dancing and social gathering.
