An evocative evening of orchestral music explores the vibrant classical and traditional sounds of Latin America with the Florida Chamber Orchestra under the baton of its founder and music director, Marlene Urbay. Sounds of the Americas takes place Saturday, March 14 at Sanctuary of the Arts in Coral Gables.
Celebrating decades of artistic excellence, this program honors the diverse musical heritage of the Americas through beloved melodies and cultural expression. The concert features famous and popular themes from countries including Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Brazil, Colombia, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, with works by celebrated composers such as Rafael Hernández, Astor Piazzolla, José Pablo Moncayo, Arturo Márquez, Gonzalo Roig and Miguel Matamoros.
The Florida Chamber Orchestra was founded in 1995 and aims to make classical music accessible while engaging audiences with rich, culturally resonant programming under Urbay’s artistic leadership.
