A New Year’s morning tradition returns to the Joe Celestin Center as Councilwoman Estimé-Irvin hosts North Miami’s annual Soup Joumou Celebration. From 9 a.m. to noon, the gathering welcomes residents for a warm and communal start to the year centered on Haiti’s iconic dish.
Rooted in the celebration of Haiti’s independence, Soup Joumou carries deep cultural meaning, and the event honors that history through shared food and community connection. Guests can expect a welcoming atmosphere, lively conversation and the chance to take part in a tradition embraced across the Haitian diaspora.
