Swan Lake by International Ballet Stars

Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet returns to Miami Beach in a large-scale production featuring international dancers, detailed sets and more than 150 handcrafted costumes. Swan Lake by International Ballet Stars takes place Sunday, March 7 at The Fillmore Miami Beach, continuing the annual presentation of this ballet at the venue. The afternoon performance is presented in two acts and runs approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, including one 20-minute intermission.

Set to Tchaikovsky’s score, Swan Lake follows Princess Odette, a young woman trapped under a sorcerer’s spell, and Prince Siegfried, whose love is tested by deception and betrayal. The production moves from the moonlit lakeside scenes associated with Odette to the royal ballroom, where Odile performs the ballet’s demanding 32 fouettés.

The performance is staged under the artistic direction of Artem Yachmennikov, a former principal dancer with San Francisco Ballet and Dutch National Ballet. Featuring a cast of ballet artists representing four continents, the production offers a theatrical version of the familiar story through classical choreography, dramatic staging and traditional design elements.
