Symbiotic House: Malcolm Lauredo
May 14, 2026
Starting: 6:30 PM
A Miami-based artist explores ecological interdependence and multispecies design as part of an ongoing lecture series at The Kampong in Coconut Grove. Symbiotic House: Lee Pivnik takes place Thursday, May 14.
This fifth installment of the 2026 Symbiotic House lecture series features Lee Pivnik, an interdisciplinary artist whose work draws from living systems to imagine futures rooted in mutualism rather than extraction. Working across sculpture, drawing and installation, Pivnik examines entanglement between species and their environments, referencing fungal networks, epiphytic plants and animal-built architectures found in South Florida.
Pivnik is the founder and co-director of the Institute of Queer Ecology (IQECO), a collaborative platform that has partnered with more than 150 artists to produce interdisciplinary projects centered on interconnectivity, intimacy and multispecies relationality. His work has been presented at institutions including the Guggenheim Museum, the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami, and Centre Pompidou-Metz, among others. He is the recipient of Knight Arts Challenge Awards and a 2025 Creative Capital Award.
Organized by Pivnik, the Symbiotic House lecture series convenes artists and designers whose practices engage architecture, ecology and participatory research, fostering dialogue around ecological mutualism through design.
