Taste of AfriKin
Sep 06, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A large-scale culinary and cultural gathering centers African and Afro-diasporic food traditions through tastings, music and community celebration.
Taste of AfriKin 2026 takes place on Sunday, September 6, at the Scott Galvin Community Center in North Miami. Presented annually by AfriKin in partnership with the City of North Miami, the event brings together chefs, artists and performers to showcase foodways from across Africa and its global diaspora.
The program features unlimited tastings from chefs representing more than 15 countries, offering both traditional dishes and contemporary interpretations. A central highlight is the Jollof Cook-Off, where chefs from countries including Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal compete in a friendly culinary rivalry rooted in regional pride and technique. Live music spanning Afrobeat, reggae and soca accompanies the food programming, alongside dance performances, art installations and a curated vendor village.
Held at Maison AfriKin within the Scott Galvin Community Center, the event reflects AfriKin’s broader mission to use art, culture and cuisine as tools for education, connection and cultural preservation. Proceeds support AfriKin Foundation’s nonprofit initiatives focused on artists, cultural programming and community development.
