Tech Lab: Video Game Design for Beginners
Aug 24, 2025
From: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Learn how video games are built from the ground up in this hands-on workshop introducing the fundamentals of game design and coding. Designed for beginners, the session offers an opportunity to explore basic programming concepts in a supportive, interactive environment—no prior experience required.
Tech Lab: Video Game Design for Beginners will take place on Sunday, August 24 at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. As part of the museum’s quarterly Tech Lab series, this workshop focuses on block-based coding, allowing participants to animate a digital avatar while gaining insight into the computer science principles behind modern games. Attendees will also explore current trends in gaming technology and take home a tech-related resource to continue experimenting after the session.
The program is open to all ages and encourages family participation, with a focus on informal STEM education through hands-on activities. Tech Labs are held seasonally and are designed to spark interest in technology and engineering through real-world applications.
