This event has passed.
An afternoon of art and insight unfolds as Miami-Dade County Artist-in-Residence Edouard Duval-Carrié shares the stories and ideas behind his acclaimed body of work at the Olga M. & Carlos A. Saladrigas Art Gallery.
Born in Port-au-Prince and trained in Montreal and Paris, Duval-Carrié is celebrated for his vivid explorations of Caribbean identity, history and spirituality. His paintings and installations, featured at institutions including Pérez Art Museum Miami, The Bass and the Venice Biennale, blend myth, memory and social commentary through a distinctly Haitian lens. Surrounded by 48 works on view, including his signature chandeliers and sugar boat installation, guests will gain rare perspective into his creative process and vision.
The Alchemy of History: The Vision of Edouard Duval-Carrié takes place at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School on Saturday, November 1. Exhibition catalogs with an essay by art critic Elisa Turner will be available, and refreshments will be served.
