The Juneteenth Experience
Jun 19, 2026
Doors open: 6:00 PM | Show starts: 7:00 PM
A multidisciplinary performance at the Miami Beach Bandshell explores Black history and cultural expression through music, dance and visual storytelling. Taking place Friday, June 19, The Juneteenth Experience returns as an annual program presented as part of Miami Beach Arts in the Parks. The evening combines live performance with film to reflect on themes of identity, history and artistic voice.
The program begins with a curated selection of short films by South Florida filmmakers, followed by a concert-theater presentation led by Hued Songs. Directed by Executive Artistic Director Kunya Rowley, with music direction by King Friday, the performance blends gospel, classical and contemporary influences with spoken word, choreography and multimedia elements. The work is shaped by contributions from choreographer Gentry George, writer Arsimmer McCoy and visual artist Russell Watson.
Centered on the theme I, Too, Sing America, the production considers evolving interpretations of American identity through the lens of Black artistry. Admission is free and open to the public.
