The Last Songs of My Mother and Tonton

Two lives, two cultures, and one unforgettable farewell take center stage in this original musical at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex.

The Last Songs of My Mother and Tonton, running August 7, 8 and 10, is a folklore-infused theatrical production that honors the passing of two elders, Haitian percussionist Catelus "Tonton" Laguerre and Miami-Dade educator Dr. Frances Jean Fraser. Blending laughter, grief and music, the story follows a family and their close-knit community as they accompany Tonton and Grandma Jean on their final journey, finding beauty in remembrance and connection.
